also ich finde zum beispiel das man sein system viel selbstständiger diagnostizieren kann, wenn man alles per hand installiert hat, man weis einfach was man gemacht hat und was drin steckt und so kann man sich fehlerquellen und abhänhigkeiten logisch herleiten. an ubutnu hat mich immer sehr gestört das ich zB evolution mail nicht deinstallieren konnte, dabei ist das von den abhängigkeiten her gesehen eigentlich gar kein problem, aber woher soll man das wissen wenn man nicht sieht was dahinter steckt?

Bei Ubuntu funktionieren einige Sachen auch nicht richtig. Ein Beispiel wäre xinit, das ich mit Ubuntu nie nutzen konnte. Und dabei bringt zumindest mir das ganze (Debian Etch) 15 FPS (30 statt 15) bei UT 2004. Ubuntu leidet aber auch an der Krankheit, alles möglichst leicht machen zu wollen - und vergisst die Nachvollziehbarkeit. Wenn man bei Ubuntu per Restricted Manager einen Treiber installiert, weiß man nicht, was passiert ist. Ubuntu verlangt nach Update des X-Servers einen kompletten Neustart - Strg+Alt+Rück würden es auch tun (oder "/etc/init.d/gdm restart").
Die meisten User sind es aber von Windows gewohnt dumm gehalten zu werden und fragen daher nicht nach. Für die einen ist das toll, sie wollen nur, dass der Komputer funktioniert. Quasi als Büro-Äquivalent zur Videospielkonsole. Andere aber wollen tieferen Einblick und DEN bietet Ubuntu erst auf intensive Nachfrage. Ich habe sogar schon die Erfahrung gemacht, dass Leute ihr Ubuntu neu aufsetzen, wenn etwas nicht mehr funktioniert...
Aber wie gesagt, es gibt auch Leute, die wollen das. Und Ubuntu ist zugegeben wirklich schick.

Du wirst feststellen das es mal geplant war CNR default aufzunehmen in die Distribution (Ubuntu).

Ich glaub ich brauch auch mal ne alternative zu ubuntu. Naja ich werde mal arch, fedora und centOS an gucken.

Ich hab nach wie vor ein Kubuntu auf der Platte, kommende Woche update ich auf Gutsy. Auf meinem zweiten Rechner befindet sich ein openSuSE 10.2.

Sollte das CnR fester Bestandteil von Kubuntu werden und sich nicht durch ein einfaches apt-get remove entfernen lassen (was imho aber drin sein sollte), so muss ich wohl was anderes zum zocken suchen.

Ich hab jetzt auch arch-linux auf meinem desktop aber auf meinem laptop (der viel von meinem bruder benutzt wird) hat noch ein ubuntu drauf .

Hm. Also ich werde (K)Ubuntu treu bleiben. Zumindest bis CNR Einzug hält. Und dann werde ich entweder auf Debain (testing) oder Arch umsteigen.

BTW: Eine Frage zu Arch: Gibt es dort auch Release Zyklen wie bei Ubuntu / Debian,.... oder ist es eher so, dass es einen Pool gibt und wenn eine Software dann neu heraus kommt diese in den Pool integriert/aktualisiert wird? Soll heißen: Bei Kubuntu müsste ich auf neue KDE-Versionen eigentlich bis zum nächsten Release warten. Ist dies bei Arch-Linux auch so?

Bei arch gibt es zwei repos eine current und eine release. Der "release" repo wird immer mit einer neuen version aktuelliesirt und der current hat immer die aktuelleste version von software. Also kurz Arch kann beides
